"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have Grant Green in the place.” These were the words of Gerry Eastman, owner of the Williamsburg Music Center in New York, when he first heard Quinn play at the jam session he hosted that night.Quinn Bélice is a Montreal-based guitarist, singer, arranger, and bandleader of Haitian descent. She stands out as a highly talented guitarist, and her playing is imbued with great sensitivity. In 2023, she received the Sophie Desmarais scholarship to study jazz performance – jazz guitar – at the University of Montreal. She trained with some of Montreal’s best guitarists, including Jordan Officer, Mike Rud, and Mike Gauthier. She also studied composition with acclaimed saxophonist Beth McKenna.With her sister, Bel, she formed the jazz/world music duo Bel and Quinn. In 2021, they released a heartfelt EP, Fanm nan dife. Thanks to this EP, funded by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ), they performed at several festivals and concert halls in Quebec.In 2023, Bel and Quinn released their first album, Donte sann yo. With this artistic endeavor, the duo received their first nominations at the JUNO Awards, the ADISQ Awards, and the Gala Dynastie. They toured Canada, Brazil and Senegal. Quinn Belice launched her solo project : Quinntet, a jazz quintet where her compositions come to life. Having won over audiences, she performs regularly at the Williamsburg Music Center in Brooklyn in New York.
